Description: This workshop provides an overview of how to write a statement about your experience and approach to working with Diverse communities. The workshop will provide an overview of Cornell University’s founding principle …” any person… any study,” and its Core Values. Panelists will highlight what makes a statement stand out and the best practices for approaching such an assignment. Participants will have an opportunity to implement the tips and ideas shared in the session into their own statements and are welcome to share these statements to receive feedback from the panelists.

“What I wish I knew:” Transitioning into an Assistant Professor Position
Description: Panelists will share lessons and tops from transitioning from a postdoc/ advanced graduate student position to an assistant professor position. Topics include developing your independent research agenda, starting up a lab, juggling multiple responsibilities (teaching, research, and service), etc. Participants are welcome to send in advance questions they wish to explore in this session.
