Developing a Solid Contribution to Diversity Statement

Description: Panelists will discuss elements of strong Contribution to Diversity statements and suggest how to develop such a statement. Participants will implement the best practices shared in the session into their diversity statements and are welcome to share these statements to receive feedback from panelists.

“What I wish I knew:” Transitioning into an Assistant Professor Position

Description: Panelists will share lessons from their experience of transitioning from postdoc/ advanced graduate student to an assistant professor position. Topics can include developing your independent research agenda, starting up a lab, juggling multiple responsibilities (teaching, research and service), etc. Participants are welcome to share questions they wish to explore in this session.

Description: In the first half of the session, panelist will outline advice about how to prepare for an on-campus job talk. In the second half of the session participants will brainstorm how to develop or improve their own talks.
